PFBC and Wayne County Celebrate Opening of Indian Orchard River Access

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC), Wayne County Commissioners, and the Lackawaxen River Trails group celebrated the opening of the new Indian Orchard River Access in Texas Township, Wayne County. The site features a concrete boat launch, paved access road, parking, restrooms, walking trails, and picnic areas along the Lackawaxen River.

The project—funded through PFBC’s Boating Facility Grant Program with support from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and local partners—completes the 10-mile Lackawaxen River Trail connecting Honesdale to Hawley.

Officials praised the collaboration that made the $1 million investment possible, noting the trail’s impact on recreation, tourism, and community connection.
